● Practical childcare program developed through employee feedback and task force

SEONGNAM, South Korea – September 17, 2019 – LINE Plus Corporation, the Korea-based subsidiary of LINE Corporation, has launched the LINE Child+ Care Center, the first “backup childcare” program offered by a Korean company. The center provides short-term care services for the children of LINE employees when employees are not able to use their usual caregivers or childcare institutions due to sudden emergencies.

The 430-square-meter LINE Child+ Care Center is located close to the LINE Plus office and is operated through a professional childcare service provider. LINE employees can send children from 12 months to about 6 years old to the center, with three types of service offered each day: mornings, afternoons, and whole-day. In addition, the facility is overseen by teachers properly trained in early childhood education, and offers safe playing materials, meals, and a range of teaching and developmental materials.

“The LINE Child+ Care Center grew out of a meeting we held with our employees last November, when many parents described the difficulties they face finding trustworthy places to take care of their young children,” said Jungho Shin, CEO of LINE Plus. “We really hope this center will help LINERs with this serious need, so they can trust that their children are enjoying the best of care during the day. LINE will continue listening to our employees’ needs and take into account their many different lives, with the aim of creating an optimized working environment for employees to pursue their careers without being burdened by heavy concerns.”

LINE provides employees with parental- and childcare-related benefits, such as the regular daycare program Puruni Daycare Center. In November 2018, following employee suggestions that there was a need for additional childcare options, the company formed a task force called the Childcare Support Working Group. The LINE Child+ Care Center was one result of that task force. The working group also helped to develop other programs, including “One-on-One Regular Visits Childcare Service Tie-up” and “Educational and Childcare Classes for LINER Parents”.

Going forward, LINE will continue to listen to its employees it seeks to enhance all aspects of the LINE work environment.
