TOKYO – September 25, 2017 – LINE Corporation today launched LIVE Video Ads, an in-stream ad distribution service that can insert video ads into both live and recorded broadcasts on LINE LIVE.
LIVE Video Ads offers advertisers several options for presenting their messages to users in a way that is more convenient and vivid.
“Pre-roll” – the only option available for launch – places an auto-play ad before the LINE LIVE stream. Clients also have the option of guiding viewers from the action bar directly to an external site.
Other options to be added soon include “Mid-roll” and “In-feed.” “Mid-roll” allows hosts to place ads in the middle of their feeds, at times of their choosing. And “In-feed” places ads into the LINE LIVE contents menu.
LINE LIVE has been well-received by the public and continues to grow quickly, now with more than 28 million monthly active users, thanks in part to its efforts to extend into new areas like original programming and live music performances. In addition, the livestreaming service has found strong support from younger viewers due to its ease-of-use and interactivity.

Hosts earn a percentage of the revenues generated by LIVE Video Ads, incentivizing them to provide quality broadcasts. Better content in turn benefits viewers, as well as the clients who can enjoy greater attentiveness from viewers and therefore better results for their brands. In addition, LINE LIVE offers rigorous monitoring to ensure content quality, including protecting hosts from trolling and slanderous comments. Those protections also extend to the in-stream ads, so viewers can enjoy their favorite contents without disruption.
