Tokyo, Japan – January 17, 2014 – LINE Corporation, owner and operator of the free call and messaging app LINE, today announced that it has completed the donation of funds raised through the sales of its charity sticker set, “Pray for the Philippines”, to the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.
The “Pray for the Philippines” sticker set was sold in the LINE Sticker Shop worldwide for USD 0.99 (JPY 100) from November 15 to December 31, 2013, and raised a total of JPY 58,773,190 after deduction of transaction fees*. LINE would like to express its deepest gratitude to all donors around the world for contributing generously to this cause.
With the assistance of the Japanese Red Cross, the funds were transferred to the Philippine Red Cross on January 10, and will be used to aid the vicitims and rebuild the damaged areas.
Mr. Akira Morikawa, CEO of LINE Corporation, visited the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Tokyo, Japan on January 15, and was warmly received by Mr. Manuel M. Lopez, Philippine ambassador to Japan. During this visit, Mr. Morikawa presented the outcome of the donation drive to Ambassador Lopez, and also learnt about the current situation in the affected areas.
